Michel Molenaar wins the Partypoker MILLIONS Irish Poker Festival

If I had been asked at the start of the week to pick one player as the most likely winner of the first Irish Poker Festival MILLIONS main event, it would without a shadow of a doubt have been young Dutch player Michel Molenaar. It’s not just convenient after the timing, as Michel has been in sensational form in recent months, securing 2nd place at the Hydra High Roller and 3rd place at the Mystery Bounty event at the recent Party Poker MILLIONS Malta Festival. At the Irish Poker Festival, he continued this momentum, overcoming a field of 286 quality players to win the MILLIONS title and a career-best €210,000!

Michel entered the final table 4th in chips, behind Glenn Keogh, Tomas MacNamara and Richard Kellett of England. The three smallest stacks were the first to be eliminated. Barry Carson, winner of Thursday’s €250 Freezeout, was first to go, falling onto the rail shortly after the start, to take 9th place and €18,500. Padraig O’Neill was next to place 8th for €22,840. Andy Black, one of the most experienced players in Irish poker, entered the final with the smallest stack, but retained 7th place and €28,000.

Richard Kellett, then one of the biggest stacks, took 6th place and €35,000 after losing a huge pot to Tomas MacNamara, which the Scotsman Andrew “Picasso” Hedley, who was very small at the time, climbed to 5th place, with €44,000. kerchage.

At this time, Michel began to dominate the debates. The fourth horseman of the apokerlypse was Liam Chevalier. The popular Irish player walked away with €56,500 for his efforts.

Michel continued to extend his advantage and when long-time chip leader Glenn Keogh came out in 3rd place for €75,000, the Dutchman had a significant lead over Tomas MacNamara. But things were getting serious now and MacNamara fought back, collecting some chips but failing to close the gap.

In the final hand, Molenaar held 32 of spades to MacNamara’s 42 on a flop of 452. Michel had flopped a straight flush draw and the 10 of spades on the river ended proceedings.

As we’ve already mentioned, it’s been a remarkable few months for Molenaar, who surely has a brilliant poker career ahead of him and we wish him to, well, become the Party Poker MILLIONS man of the moment. A very dignified champion who takes the game very seriously, but smiles most of the time.

Here are the full payouts from the Party Poker MILLIONS Main Event. Congratulations to everyone who won money!
