The partypoker Grand Prix has teamed up with the Bratislava Poker Festival powered by the Irish Poker Tour for six fantastic days of poker tournaments and cash games in one of Europe’s most spacious casinos at Card Casino Bratislava from July 18-23.
The festival was a huge hit with players eager for the revival of the partypoker LIVE tour. Not only is the atmosphere full of fun and energy, but partypoker’s €550 Grand Prix Main Event smashed its lofty guarantee of €500,000 with 1,113 entries creating a prize pool of €542,588.
Late registration for Day 1f recently concluded with Day 2 following at 4pm with blinds starting at 2,500/5,000 with a big blind bet of 5,000. Payouts will be announced shortly after play begins between the 239 players who survived any of the first five opening steals as well as players who find a bag in the last opening steal.
Day 1e chipleader Oliver Schulze clinched the chipleader Friday night to start the action with 865,000 (173 big blinds) with Day 1b chipleader Stanislav Tomov (785,000), Day 1c chipleader Kristian Saethre (675,000), Jasper van der Veen (600,500) and Daniel Nagy (509,500) completing the top five. Of course, it is possible that the top of the leaderboard will change before the start of Day 2 pending the outcome of the current Day 1f.
Meanwhile, four players lifted trophies on Friday with Bulgarian Boris Angelov giving a clinic in one of the biggest Omaha tournaments in European poker history after beating Jakub Koleckar (second – €26,000) one-on-one in the Omaha Euro Championship €2,500 for €40,000. To make it even more impressive, Angelov qualified for this event for just €360 in a live no-rake sit-and-go that took place hours before the event started.
Angelov appeared calm, cool and collected during the live table TV broadcast on the partypokerTV Twitch channel with partypoker commentator Jason Glatzer, PLO player George Sandford and general poker beast Tomas “luckymo32” Geleziunas entertaining the masses while providing unique insight into how to approach PLO tournaments. It was an impressive final table with cash game player Patrik “TheHammerCrusher” Jaros (third – €18,000), Ladislav Popisil (fourth – €13,400) and Irish Poker Tour and Bratislava Poker Festival founder Fintan Gavin (fifth – €10,240) all finishing in the money.
Serbian Ozren Cvijanovic also picked up his second-biggest live tournament win after winning the €1,000 One Dayer for €20,000. Marek Ohnisko of the Czech Republic won the €300 Omaha for €4,900, while England’s Roy Walker won the €150 NLH Turbo Freezeout for €3,200.
THE partypokertv Twitch channel offered a live broadcast all week with an entertaining mix of high-stakes cash games and a massive buy-in Omaha tournament. The final two days of live-streamed action will focus solely on Day 2 and the final day of the epic Partypoker Grand Prix Bratislava Main Event starting Saturday July 22 at 8pm local time.
