The Spring Edition Grand Prix kicked off on March 16 and crowned its first three champions on March 20. These three opening events set a high benchmark for main events, especially the $33 PKO Openerwho not only reached his $75,000 guarantee, but paid an impressive $96,720!
Some 3,224 PartyPoker players hit the tables for the Spring #01 Opener PKO Grand Prix with a $33 buy-in and $75,000 guaranteed. That min-cash rose to at least $533 by the time the final table hit, plus, of course, any bonuses those finalists picked up along the way.
“PsychFox” was the first of nine finalists to withdraw, with $780 in reward for their efforts, the only final table prize in less than four figures.
“Sankaku Jime” And “Tarekk_” were the next victims. Their deep runs caused their PartyPoker account balances to balloon by $1,108 and $1,013, respectively. Then came the elimination of “EpicSince92” in sixth ($2,012) and “vixkickx” in fifth ($1,810) before the untimely demise of “SAMURAVI77” ($2,980) and “dust2_killer” ($4,823) sent the opening event into the heads-up phase.
Here, “Running4guns” horns locked with “iva76.” Both players guaranteed themselves at least $5,600 from the main prize pool, but the final bounty payout was close to $5,000, so there was plenty to play for. Eventually, running4guns found themselves in possession of all the chips, becoming the first Spring Grand Prix champion, and recipient of $10,454. Our finalist received $6,351.
